Eric Norman Ansell, a young British immigrant, launches Ansell in a small backyard in Melbourne Australia. 

1941

Ansell produces synthetic rubber compounds, gas masks, surgeon gloves and meteorological balloons to support the war effort.

The manufacturing of the first disposable medical glove begins.

1965

The GAMMEX® gamma-sterilized disposable surgeon's glove is introduced, designed by 
Harvey Ansell.

1969

Ansell is purchased by Dunlop Australia changing the whole culture of the company. Dunlop provides the backing needed to proceed with Ansell's expansion into manufacturing in South East Asia and to expand its export markets.

1975

The first offshore medical glove factory in Melaka, Malaysia begins operations, adding three new surgical gloves to the production line.

1976

A successful mission to the US results in the first US hospital converted to GAMMEX®.

1981

Ansell purchases Akwell Industries in the United States. This establishes a significant North American presence in the surgical gloves market, thereby becoming the world's largest medical glove manufacturer.

1984

Ansell purchases Aspair Gloves in the United Kingdom, enabling Ansell to enter into the production of chemical-resistant gloves. This acquistion introduces a high quality, unsupported nitrile glove to the production line. At the same time, production of powder-free surgical gloves begins in the Melaka factory.

1991

Ansell is recognized as the world's largest producer and distributor of medical, household and industrial gloves.

1995

Ansell acquires the Perry Glove Company from Smith and Nephew, further expanding its surgical glove business.

1998

Ansell's Melaka facility begins the launch of several new products, including the world's first, synthetic, powder-free glove - GAMMEX® Dermaprene.

2000

Ansell acquires Johnson & Johnson medical glove division.

2005

Ansell celebrates its first 100 years of business. That same year, the GAMMEX® PF HydraSoft® launches.

2010

GAMMEX® AMT, the company's first antimicrobial surgical glove, becomes available in select markets. The GAMMEX brand is also launched in China, continuing Ansell's international expansion.

2012

SENSOPRENE technology launches, providing an unprecedented level of sensitivity, durability, and comfort for those with Type I and Type IV allergies.

2013

Ansell launches first glove featuring SENSOPRENE®, the GAMMEX® Non-Latex Accelerator Free Sensitive. To continue commitment to innovation, Ansell opens a new research & development centre in Sri Lanka.

2014

Ansell launches GAMMEX® Silver Barrier Burn Glove and the GAMMEX® Outer Dressing expanding into the Burn & Wound market.

2015

Ansell celebrates 50 years of the GAMMEX surgical glove brand. That same year is the Grand Opening of a new, state-of-the-art Medical Solutions Innovation Centre in Melaka. The Center houses scientists and technicians, working in the areas of new product development as well as product and process improvements. A revolutionary pilot line is incorporated to expedite new product development, investigate process efficiency improvements, and run trials to better understand the impact of process variables on glove quality. This investment demonstrates our continued commitment to innovation... ALWAYS.
